The following pictures are found in the W.W. Stall 1886 catalog along with the excerpts associated with each picture.

The Ranelagh Club

< The "Ranelagh Club"
"These machines are probably best known generally of any make in the world. The Coventry Machinists' Company is the only firm now in existence among the first makers in England, and, having already an established reputation for fine work, when entering the trade they applied their skill and inventive faculties in the direction of the bicycle, after which naturally followed the tricycle."

"The Ranelagh Club tricycle is one of the popular automatic handlebar steerers for gentleman's use. Our illustration shows its detail very plainly. By the "bridle-rod" connection between the handles and steering wheel a longer wheel base may be used than in the Cripper style."

The New Club Tandem

< The New Club Tandem
"The Club Tandem is suited either for two gentlemen, or gentleman and lady. It is very simply convertible by removing four bolts, leaving either a complete three track side-steering single, suited for either lady or gentleman, or a Humber type bicycle, steering single, suited for gentleman's use, giving rider the option of three complete machines at will, each of improved and popular styles."

"The tandem is steered by the front rider, assisted by the rear when necessary."

Silent Ratchet Mechanism

< Silent Ratchet Mechanism
'The figure on the left represents the hub N, complete with a bell mouthed piece screwed onto it. In the mouth of L is seen a finely toothed ring M. This is made from hardened steel and the teeth are nicely cut previous to its insertion. In case of accident this ring may be readily replaced. The axle is shown projecting outward."

" The figure on the right represents the ratchet box detached complete from hub... Oiling is one of the first and most frequent requirements of a bicycle. In applying oil it should be borne in mind that "little and often" is the better rule."
